Children's Ministry Director

Full Job Description

Bellevue Christian Reformed Church is a church that invests in kids and families! We are seeking a talented Director to grow our birth-5th grade programs. The Director will plan and lead weekly and special events for kids in our church community. The ideal candidate will love Jesus, love kids, and enjoy planning activities for kids.

The Children’s Ministries Director leads our children’s ministries program. They plan and administer our children’s ministries, support volunteers, and facilitate children’s faith development. The Director will both directly teach in our children’s ministries and coordinate volunteers who also teach.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Mature Christian who agrees with the Reformed interpretation of Scripture
  • Experience working with children; connects easily with children
  • Pursues creative approaches to children’s ministry
  • Self-motivated; strong personal discipline
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, detail-oriented
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Able to recruit, train, and mobilize volunteers
  • Regular attendee of Bellevue Christian Reformed Church
  • Previous experience with church ministry leadership and/or children’s ministry preferred
  • College degree preferred (especially in education, church ministries)


  • Set the direction for children’s ministries in keeping with the overall church mission
  • Coordinate ministries for children that promote faith formation and inclusion of children in the church community
  • Connect with and convey God’s love to children in the church
  • Foster a culture where all children are welcome, encounter the gospel of Jesus Christ, and grow in faith
  • Work to integrate the children’s ministries into the overall outreach efforts of the church
  • Help children develop a heart for serving others through group and individual activities
  • Effectively build, equip, and lead the team of ministry leaders and support parent and youth volunteers to run the children’s ministries
  • Encourage parental and congregational involvement in children’s ministries
  • Communicate regularly with the parents and congregation
  • Plan the annual children’s ministries budget and maintain financial records
  • Provide administrative support and oversight for the children’s-level Sunday School classes
  • Set goals and annually evaluate the children’s ministries programs
  • Represent children’s ministries on the church Education Committee and collaborate with other relevant committees to conduct effective ministry work
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children

The safety of our staff and community is our priority. Remote work is encouraged and children's ministries activities have been virtual. We hope to begin in-person activities this spring/summer.
