Full Job Description

Bellevue Christian Reformed Church is a community that loves to worship our God together. We are seeking a talented Director of Music & Worship ("Worship Director") to lead our worship ministry as we grow younger, grow outward, and grow together.

The ideal candidate will love Jesus, love music, love working with people, and enjoy crafting engaging worship that combines elements that draw from different cultures, eras, and traditions.

Overview: The Worship Director leads, oversees, and coordinates our church worship ministry. They facilitate worship that honors God and nurtures the faith of the congregation, organizes and equips volunteers for using their gifts, and manages the ministry’s administrative needs.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Be a professing, mature Christian, exhibiting a genuine love for Jesus Christ, and agreeing with the Reformed interpretation of Scripture
  • Have passion for worshipping the Lord in all aspects of life and sharing that passion through the church’s worship
  • Able to pursue creative approaches to the elements of worship
  • Self-motivated, eager to work, and have strong personal discipline
  • Strong organizational and communication skills (including public speaking), detail-oriented
  • Able to work well with others—volunteers, pastor, Council, and the greater church body
  • Able to coordinate volunteers—recruit, train, and mobilize them for effective worship ministry
  • Possess or able to develop a working knowledge of technology resources to support worship
  • Be/become a regular attendee and member of the Bellevue Christian Reformed Church
  • Skilled musician
  • Previous experience with church ministry leadership and/or worship ministry preferred
  • College degree preferred (especially in music, church ministries)


  • Set the direction for worship ministries that is in line with the overall church mission, vision, values, and strategic plans
  • Promote worship that praises God, inspires and edifies the church community, and fosters faith development
  • Incorporate a range of music styles, purposeful use of the arts, and an intentional mix of the new and the familiar to enhance the worship experience
  • Plan worship that connects with and conveys the gospel message to a range of ages and stages of faith
  • Lead planning and execution of worship services that are authentic, honor God through excellence, and have Biblical and doctrinal integrity

o Collaborate with the preaching pastor for continuity of message

o Lead or participate in a majority of services (typically 2-3/month)

o Use rehearsal time to effectively prepare for services

o Serve as accountability coach to volunteer worship leaders, mentoring and providing feedback on plans

  • Work to integrate the worship ministries into the overall outreach efforts of the church
  • Foster the use of congregational gifts for participation in worship, both through regular worship teams and through special ensembles, participation in liturgy, and other opportunities
  • Effectively build, equip, and lead the team of volunteer worship leaders, musicians, vocalists, and A/V personnel to run the worship ministries
  • Oversee equipment and technology use in the worship ministry

o Scheduling software and projection software

o A/V equipment

o Church-owned instruments and musical equipment

  • Maintain the music library and ensure compliance with licensing agreements
  • Plan the annual worship ministries budget and maintain financial records in coordination with the BCRC Treasurer and Church Administrator
  • Engage in annual goal setting and evaluation for the worship ministries activities
  • Collaborate with staff and relevant committees to conduct effective ministry work
  • Promote compliance with the Safe Church policies in worship ministry activities

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
